Preparing for Christmas

We start every Monday morning before 5 o'clock and it is usually somewhat of a struggle to get the boys up and going and for them to be in a good mood, however this morning was the exception for Blake. As I was waking him I was telling him that there was no preschool today because it was almost Christmas. He replied, "I know Mom. We go to daycare today and tomorrow and then we have Christmas at Gram's. Then we go to daycare again until lunch and then we go to Grandmother's for Christmas! The next day Santa comes and I get lots of presents. Then after Santa comes we got to Carolyn's and then the next day we go to Nathan's house. I can't wait! I am so excited!" Blake is so excited about Christmas that it is refreshing to see and it makes me want to do more to help create more memories for him.

So tonight we are baking a birthday cake that we will have on Christmas morning to celebrate Jesus' birthday. This is a new tradition we are starting at our house. With all the presents and fun for the kids I hope this will help them remember the real reason we celebrate Christmas. As they grow I hope they always remember the reason for the season and if something as simple as birthday cake for breakfast can do that it will be well worth it! Blake picked out a strawberry cake for Jesus and he helped me make it as well. I caught him drinking some of the water for the mix that he was supposed to be dumping in so I hope it tastes good on Christmas morning!
